PlayStation 5 Fails to Meet Expectations: Half of PS4 Users Still Haven’t Upgraded

The PlayStation 5 (PS5) has seen significant interest since its release, selling like hotcakes compared to the Xbox. However, recent data suggests that nearly half of PlayStation 4 (PS4) users have yet to upgrade to the PS5. This indicates that the PS5 may not be meeting expectations and that the PS4 remains a strong contender.

PS5 Sales and Active Users

According to Sony, around 60 million PlayStation 5 consoles have been sold to date. However, the number of active PlayStation users is around 118 million. Looking at these figures, it appears that half of PlayStation users are still not playing on the PS5. In fact, there are still 2 million people using the PlayStation 3 today.

Why Aren’t PS4 Users Upgrading?

There are several reasons why nearly half of PS4 users are still using the PS4 instead of buying a PS5. Firstly, the PS4 can still play most of today’s popular games. The number of exclusive games that a player who buys a PS5 can access is quite low. In this case, upgrading to the PS5 does not seem like a smart move for many players.

Additionally, there are different models of the PS4. These include the PlayStation 4 Slim (PS4 Slim) and the PlayStation 4 Pro (PS4 Pro). These models offer users different options, reducing the need to upgrade to the PS5.

In conclusion, the release of the PS5 does not mean that PS4 users will immediately upgrade. The PS4 is still a strong player and can meet the needs of users. More exclusive games and features on the PS5 could accelerate users’ transition to the PS5. However, for now, we see that half of PS4 users have still not upgraded to the PS5.
