The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Disappointment

The game, developed by Daedalic Entertainment and released for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox, has received rather underwhelming reviews, revealing its less than promising state.

A significant portion of the criticism directed towards The Lord of the Rings: Gollum revolved around whether its graphics were suitable for the year 2023. Many flaws, including poor facial animations, flat textures, and physics errors, led to negative ratings from critics. Additionally, the limited and repetitive game narrative also drew criticism.

It has made its mark as the lowest-rated game among all The Lord of the Rings titles on Metacritic, throughout all time.

We are talking about Gollum, but who is this Gollum or her real name is Smeagol:

In the year 2463 of the Third Age, Sméagol's cousin Déagol found the One Ring while fishing, and Sméagol, who immediately killed him, took possession of the ring. While the power of the ring extended Sméagol's lifespan, it also rendered him unrecognizable. Due to the repulsive guttural sounds he made when speaking, he became known as Gollum.

Gollum is indeed an old hobbit, despite not resembling a hobbit in outward appearance. After acquiring (yes, by killing) the powerful ring from his close friend, his physical appearance changed due to the extended lifespan it granted him. He is estimated to be around 580-590 years old.

The Guardian : 

If you’ve played a third-person action-adventure game in the past decade, you’ve played Gollum. Minus Gollum himself, of course, but this is such an unconvincing rendition that it’s unlikely to scratch that particular itch. I will praise the animation work; Sméagol himself is as creepily fluid and nimble as you’d expect. But if you’re hungry for some Lord of the Rings in your gaming diet, pick up Shadow of War for a fiver in the next sale instead, and spend the savings on a second breakfast..
