Bethesda Joins the Xbox Family

Bethesda officially joined the Xbox on March 9, 2021. Both companies - Xbox and Bethesda - have officially announced this.

The deal was first announced in September last year for Xbox parent company Microsoft to purchase Bethesda and its parent company, Zenimax Media. Regulators finally approved the big deal this week.

BETHESDA GAMES WILL BE ADDED TO XBOX GAME PASS

Also, new Bethesda games will arrive on Xbox Game Pass later this week, but Microsoft will not share details on which games will remain on the platform continuously.

Phil Spencer, vice president of games at Microsoft, made a statement: “Today we have officially completed the acquisition of ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks. It's an honor to host eight incredibly talented development studios - Bethesda Game Studios, Id Software, ZeniMax Online Studios, Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog and Roundhouse Studios - and their passionate global communities in the Xbox family. Now that everything is official, we can start working together to bring more great games to everyone. With every step I have built towards this moment, I have been inspired and motivated by the creativity, insight and community-first approach of the talented people in Bethesda. Our goal is to provide these teams with the best foundation to do their biggest job and learn from them as we continue to make Xbox an inclusive platform for all gamers. Thanks to all our players and millions of Bethesda fans around the world who have joined us on this incredible journey. Now that we are one team, we can start working together for the future ahead. We'll share more about what's next for our teams later this year. Meanwhile, to properly celebrate this special moment, we'll be bringing additional Bethesda games to Xbox Game Pass later this week. Stay tuned for more details! "
